Eid in Alexandria

Ramadan is finished and the feast has come (EID). I went to Alexandria as usual to see my sisters.
I spent sometime watching the ordinary people having their own fun on the cornishe, the sea side was bustling with people as i moved to El Anfooshy, the residence of ordinary main stream Alexandrians, fishermen and docks workers and clerks.

Hantour is this common horse cart. It is always available in this area for tourists, but in Eid...the demand is so high, they are everywhere, and it would not be enough, the commerce chaps will come from the docks and offer their service with their Carro carts, we will see that on the next photo. Anyway...the traffic sign on the above photo says ( Maximum Speed 60 km per hour) !!

Here we are, one Carro, and one hell of a girl, with whip in hand and a loud voice she is entertaining both the horse and the pedestrians, she is loading a bunch of boys. She is wearing Hejab (the islamic head cover) that has a lot of noise in France, Italy, UK..etc... They have to come and see this girl, not all Hejab wearing women are encarcerated and opressed and tortured....etc... most of them are like that one.... you better take care..

Having a picnic, all 20 of them in this little boat called (Gallawy). The writtings in Arabic translates to: NO NO NO SAFETY FOR HUMANS; but the real meaning is: DON'T DON'T DON'T TRUST MANKIND. They are probably good swimmers, as all Alexandrians are, and would just swim their way out if the boat capsize...but... it isn't safe on that boat.. or thats what i beleive.

This woman had her own entertainment watching every thing all the time.

On my way back to Cairo, just before the desert road, you drive along lake Mariout, at this spot its a vast area of marches inhabitted by another group of fishermen. They live there in their rather closed community, have their little hut-houses -see one hidden in background-, and commute using these pole driven boats. This man was not amused by me stopping along the bank and take my libery shooting photos as he was probably taking his family out to the urban side of Alexandria. BTW...it stinks where i am standing....very concentrated sulpher...rotten eggs smell that's to say...yuk... i have to go now.

Happy feast for you world.
